Just a quick collage of some things that have been inspiring me these past couple of weeks…
My usual mix of cartoony, creepy, and country, I guess, with a heavy dose of pink and red for Valentine’s Day. The dagger flash in the upper lefthand corner is by artist David M. Cook, whose Tumblr I am really into right now.
Speaking of stuff that is cartoony and cute, yesterday I exhibited at L.A. Zine Fest, and the girls there were pretty much the greatest-looking things I have ever seen. I took some great photos and I’ll post them soon!

Usually when I draw up fantasy outfits they’re just that — fantasies comprised of items I’ve seen online that I totally want but definitely don’t have.
But! A couple of nights ago I was zoning out in the general direction of my clothes rail, and a couple of pieces caught my eye. I could totally put those two things together and it would look really cute, I thought. I haven’t done it yet, but here’s what I’m thinking:
Small hearts on a sheer cream blouse plus big hearts on a tan skirt? I think it works, and I’m probably going to try it out this weekend. The shoulder bag is actually a canvas military ammo tote I got for like $6 at the army/navy surplus, and the clogs are my trusty Jeffrey Campbell Charli-C’s, which I still love over a year later.
My boyfriend likes to tease me by saying I am totally a member of Omega Mu, the geeky girl sorority from Revenge of the Nerds. After years of trying to hide from my innate nerdiness, at 25 I am ready to embrace it. I always feel oddly comfortable working my version of the prim weird nerd girl look:
Forever 21 dress, heart ring, and ankle socks, Sam Edelman slingbacks, glasses from the Del Amo Indoor Swapmeet, rhinestone rose ring from the 99¢ bodega. OPI nail polish in Need Sunglasses? with Cherimoya 2012 Cracked in Trinity.

If you couldn’t have guessed, I’m a sucker for a heart motif. I also really love rompers (because I’m lazy), so this is one of my favorite pieces right now:
I got my hyper-oversized Fakefarers at the indoor swapmeet in Compton; I like them because they’re sorta cartoony and you know that’s my shit.
Forever 21 romper, scarf, and chain-detail bucket bag, Mossimo for Target cardigan, Stop Staring! patent belt, Breckelle’s suedette platforms, NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Red Square (my go-to red lipstick).
